Entries for February, 2002

This will be a more personal journal. I don't want to share this journal with just anyone, unlike my more public blog in Pitas.

I just broke up with my boyfriend the other day, the day right after Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's to us. I was so stupid. I was dumb. I was stubborn. And because of all these, he broke up with me.

I'm gonna be better, I promise you that.

On to other things.

I fixed my new site's layout today. Check it out here.

Yup, oh yes, I am.

I was sending text messages to Ari last night right after he logged off. Heck, I didn't want to start the week with on the wrong foot. Especially with him. Yeah, so we're not a couple anymore, but I don't want the relationship to end sour.

We're OK now. We're friends. Even today we were still sending text messages to each other. I even asked him if we could still commute home together, but he said that he still didn't want to. Good thing he had a good reason. That way, I wouldn't be feeling so down. Ari just said that it was too soon to even hang out with each other yet, and if we do commute together, he's afraid that he'll go all sweetie on me. He still doesn' trust me that much yet. Oh well. At least we're still OK.

I guess it's better this way that not talking to each other at all. Good thing I tried making an effort to even talk to him. It's like how we were when we started hanging out this school year.

I forgot to add this when I logged on earlier.

I sent a simple good night message to Ari last night, and he replied, saying that he actually wanted to do the same, but didn't know if it felt right. Oh well, we ended up sending messages to each other last night.

We finally came to an agreement. We decided to go back to our old arrangement. During 1st term of this school year, we first decided to keep our relationship exclusive, but still free to see other people. So that was what we agreed upon last night. But not right away. He's still giving himself a little more time to himself. Oh well, it's better than nothing, right?

Funny, but right after that last post, I was sending text messages with Ari again. He was kinda hinting that we would meet up, coz he was so bored. So we did. Since I kinda have a bad rep now in Agno with his friends after the break-up, we couldn't go there, so we decided on neutral ground: Oriental Fusion Kitchen.

And why else did we meet?

He said that he was finally willing to go with the arrangement. I was so happy that I couldn't hide the smile on my face. We're back to the old relationship (kinda).

It's time for Friday Five.

1. Hey, baby, what's your sign? Do you think it fits you pretty well? Sagittarius, and yup, I think it does fit me well, being the wild butterfly that I am.

2. What's the worst birthday gift you've ever received? In 1999, my 'rents actually told me to break up with my boyfriend.

3. What's the best birthday gift you've ever received? Last year, when I was offered an internship in Proof with Lea Salonga. I thank the Lord for giving me an opportunity to work with my idol.

4. What's the best way you've celebrated your birthday thus far? I'm a simple girl, and just being surprised by my two best friends on my birthday was one of the best. They went out of their way to make time to go to my house without telling me, and even let my mom in on the secret.

5. What are your plans for this weekend? Work on the homework I have for Trumpets. And start reading Boy Meets Girl by Joshua Harris.

I was supposed to write an entry yesterday, but I couldn't seem to connect to the internet. Arg.

It's Lea Salonga's birthday today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LEA!!!

Anyway.

Yesterday morning, I got a text message from Tita Luna of Trumpets, offering me to be an assistant teacher to one of the classes in Trumpets. Woohoo! I agreed right away, and she told me that before I could assist a class, I should take the training seminars required for the teachers. It's not so bad. Things are really looking up now. She told me to call her up as soon as I got home. So I did. Jamie was so surprised that I was calling his house and looking for his mom. The last time I called was when I was telling him about the World Drama homework. ^_^ It turns out that I might be Myles' assistant in Musical Theater Teens in Alabang, which was the class I took last year. ^_^

Anyway, we had homework for the training session, and I picked it up this morning in the Trumpets office. It was the very first time I commuted alone from school to Shangri-La. It was pretty scary, but when I got things figured out, I was finally able to breathe easily. I'm known for my lack of sense of direction, so I was so thrilled to find my way around easily. I was so tired from walking everywhere when I finally returned to Taft in time for Ari's dismissal.

Things are also going pretty well with Ari. We're still on a "probationary" period, but we're doing great.

I watched DLSZ's production of Peter Pan tonight with Lawyn. Anna was playing Wendy. Well, the play was OK in the beginnning. If you ignore the really visible cords of the flying harnesses, the kids looked really cute when they were flying. The alternate cast including Justin, Lawyn's brother, were sitting behind us and was making so much noise. Arg. I'd like to talk to their director about discipline.

Anna's mom happened to be sitting in the row in front of us. There was this lady who was staring at me, and then she suddenly said, "Hi, Hogi! I'm Anna's mom. She told me that you'll be watching tonight." I was so surprised that she recognized me! I remember that I only met her once. She's pretty nice.

Oh yeah, one thing good about going to Zobel was that I was pretty glad that there's finally a theater program for the students. I was pretty frustrated to see something like that when I'm already an alumna, but it would be a great oppurtunity for the kids. Now I know where my kids will be going to school. ^_^ Anyway, before the play started, they showed this video of the performing arts programs, featuring exceptional kids from each of the programs. So I wasn't really surprised to see Anna or even Hugh in it. One of the people in charge of the theater program even said that they might even have the next Lea Salonga. Might??? Hello?!? They already have her!

On the whole, the production was entertaining, but disappointing on the technical side. They pre-recorded the songs so the entire cast was lip-synching, and there was even a part in Act 2 where I could hear a different tape playing for a couple of seconds. Another big flaw in Act 2 was that they forgot to turn off the lapel mikes of the cast who were offstage, and I could hear the people whispering backstage. I loved some of the costumes, though. The indians, especially Tiger Lily, were so cool. It's a part I've been dying to play as a kid. The pirates were so funny in the beginning, but the guy who played Smee was kinda annoying. It's like he had too much caffeine or something. And Peter Pan's choreography was so monotonous, especially in "Never Never Land" and that "Ugga-Wugg" (sp?) song of the Lost Boys and the Indians. Oh well, they're just kids, anyway. And I'll bet that would be what the older people were saying back when I was still doing school productions.

Arg, I'm such a critic. Ari was right when he keeps calling me "the stage queen".

After the show, Lawyn and I went backstage so I can give Anna the bottle that Lea used as a prop in Proof. I was kinda hoping that Anna would give me a lift outta the village, but she didn't offer so I didn't ask. I couldn't ask Lawyn coz I didn't want to hassle her, since she lives inside the village. I ended up walking Acacia avenue alone. At past 9:30 in the evening. Eep, I was so scared. There weren't any jeeps passing by when I was walking, and there were even some places in the sidewalk where it was really dark.

But I guess the Lord was still watching over me. A half-empty jeep passed me by, almost not notcing me, but them slowed to a stop to let me ride. Thanks.

I will never do that again. Too scary.

I checked out the name "Hogi" in Kabalarians.com, and the result was surprisingly accurate.

Your first name of Hogi has given you a responsible, expressive, inspirational, and friendly personality. Expression comes naturally to you and you are rarely at a loss for words; in fact, you have to put forth effort at times to curb an over-active tongue. Self-confidence has made it easy for you to meet people and you are well-liked for your spontaneous, happy ways. You sincerely like people and do not often experience loneliness; your work and home-life are likely filled with association You enjoy music and could have a fine singing voice; however, the study could be somewhat difficult because you do not find it easy to apply yourself to concentrated study for long periods. In this respect, this name is not altogether constructive; it creates a somewhat scattering influence which makes it difficult for you to finish what you start. This name brings disappointments and emotional involvements through being too sympathetic and easily influenced. As a result of your active nature, you have an appetite for quick-energy foods, which you could consume to excess. Health weakness appear as skin conditions, or as ailments relative to the liver.

Yeah, I'm spontaneous and I love music and singing. I have a skin condition, all right. Creepy. But no, I don't have an over-active tongue.

Just listening to this song makes me think of him.

Once In A Blue Moon

The room is empty
The lights are dim
And my heart wonders
If I'll ever see you again

My tears are hungry
For an open door
When your arms held me
I never felt that way before

I'll be waiting
I'll be watching
Under a blue moon
The taste of heaven
Only happens
Once in a blue moon

Do you remember
When the wind blew free
And we fit together
So naturally

I'll be waiting
I'll be watching
Under a blue moon
The taste of heaven
Only happens
Once in a blue moon

If the wind closes a door
It will open another

I'll be waiting
I'll be watching
Under a blue moon
The taste of heaven
Only happens
Once in a blue moon

I'm Chexmix!

What Snack Food are YOU? Click here to find out!

Fairly healthy--but still great to munch on--you're a great snack for people on the go. You've got so much variety, though, that...er...more sendentry people would probably like to take a bite out of you as well. Run!

Yeah, kinda makes me hungry. I think I'll rummage around the store later for something to munch on.

Arg, my left middle finger is kinda cramped. I've been playing some old classic NES games that I downloaded from Deej's website. He has a lot of those games that I used to play over and over again as a kid. I've been playing Super Mario Bros 3 on and off today, and I'm not halfway World 3 (the world my brother and I used to call WaterWorld) yet. I have a frog suit handy, though. Goody. ^_^

Golly, the kid in me is prying to come out again. ^_^

When I first tried processing my film for FOTOGRA class in school last week (with Dave's help), half the shots were totally ruined because we mixed up the chemical solutions wrong. But when I viewed the negatives under the light, it seemed to look pretty good.

I got another roll of black-and-white film (36 shots) and used it up yesterday. Then I had it developed today. I first stopped by Kodak in Torre Lorenzo near school, but then they said that it would take them 2-3 days to process and develop everything, since black and white photos are processed and developed manually. I tried my luck at Konica right across the Torre Lorenzo building, but they said that they can't process the film (though they do develop processed black and white film). The lady there told me that I should have it processed at Fuji then have the film developed in Konica, so it would come out cheaper than having everything done in Fuji. But when I went to Fuji, I asked them to both process and develop the film there. They charged my P100 for the processing, and P15 for each photo developed. Arg, it was pretty expensive, but I had to get it done today. But good thing I left my cell phone number at Fuji, because they sent me a text message that they ran out of the 5R photo paper that I needed, so I just had them process the film.

I returned to Konica once the film was processed. That was when I found out that they charged only P10 for each 5R photo. P5 less than at Fuji! I was actually pretty lucky that Fuji ran out of paper. I saved a lot of money by returning to Konica.

When the pictures were done, I realized that I was pretty good at taking pictures. When I showed my mom the photos, she was amazed to see things that were actually found in our own front yard. Even my dad and our neighbor, Mr. Araneta, were impressed. Wow. ^_^

Anyway.

Wow, I heard from Kel that he stood as best man at a wedding yesterday. And not just any wedding, but his own blockmate's wedding to their other blockmate. Wow, it makes me feel pretty old. Or maybe they're just too young to get married, and got married for some obvious reason. Oh well. Whatever.

Oh yeah, here's another quiz result. Got this from Mojoflea (again). I'm getting so addicted to these. ^_^

The DLSU Pep Squad was in school today during U-break for the debate of the student council nominees. I guess they're there to perform for the Reform party because the Sibol party got the CSB Pep Squad.

Naturally, Ari was there. ^_^ Kel, Ian, Macy and I were at the 3rd floor Solomon ramp to watch the squads perform.

Anyway, I took Ari to the YFC cubicle after U-break, just to hang out. Heheheheheh, my friends knew that I was working things out with Ari, so they actually left us in the cubicle alone. We were just there for about an hour and a half, with Ari massaging my temples, making me all sleepy. Arg.

Oh yeah, and we're officially back together again! ^.~
