Entries for November, 2002

I went to Cavite City today to visit the cemetery where my paternal grandparents lie. I went there with 2 of my aunts (Tita Lyn and Tita Tess), and 2 of my cousins, Kuya Butch and David (my cuz who's a seminarian). We got there at around 1 in the afternoon, and it was scorching hot! Arg. Good thing Tita Angie, my aunt who lives nearby, invited us over for lunch. We were there in a flash. Yum...food...

Anyway, while we were there, Tita Angie told us some surprising news. Ate Vonic and Kuya Bobot, 2 of my cousins who are dating each other, are getting married soon. And no, it's not an incestous (did I spell it right?) thing, because they're cousins from marriage. Anyway. So after eating, we went next door, where Tita Zenia and Tito Ely (parents of Ate Vonic) live. Ate Vonic was there too, so she told us everything. They'll be getting married on the 15th of December, the day before my birthday! And what's more, I'm gonna be one of the bridesmaids! Catch is, I have to come up with my dress myself. The motif is gonna be maroon, so that's gonna be the color of my dress. Hmmm...

I can't wait. To be honest, all my life, I haven't been to a wedding before. Most of my older cousins are already married, all my aunts and uncles as well, and the rest of my cousins are too young or just thinking that it's too soon. Except maybe for Anthony, who's a year older than me. He got married in my second year of high school. And it was just an intimate civil wedding with only the immediate family. Oh well.

My mom just told me that I should come up with a design for my dress soon. We'll just buy the material and have it made, as long as it's my design. But I don't know how to design a dress. I wonder who could help me? I sure wish Jerry was still in CSB. He comes up with lotsa of great designs. Any ideas, anyone? I'm open to suggestions.

I'm apologizing in advance if I'm going to sound a little bitchy for this post.

Is is me, or are people turning less responsible lately?

Sometime in the middle of TECTHE2 class this afternoon, I found out from Dang that the MUSSTUD midterms is a take-home exam. But it was given way earlier to Allie, by Sir Jed. When I wondered aloud why I wasn't told about this, she said that Sir Jed told her and Allie about it last week, but both of them were too lazy to give it out. How nice of them to do so. And to think that it's already due tomorrow. Arg... Well, at least I'm not the only only one pressed for time for that one. Allie went off to a VTR right after class, and won't be back until 7 this evening.

Anyway.

Just when I'm trying to detach myself gradually from YFC-CSB, they suddenly try to grab me back. And why? They needed someone to take care of the documentations, because Kitin (AVP-Docu) isn't enrolled this term, so she can't function as an official officer, and Phoebe (VP-Docu) has suddenly disappeared from us. Uhm, this is not a good bribe, people. And what's more, Macy had the advanced enrollee list and never told me about it. And that's because she's hardly around. When I asked about it after my last class today, Me-Anne said that the list might have already been passed, and it still doesn't have my name on it! Usually Macy or Khalil asks me if I wanted be included in the list. So I told Me-anne that no one told me about it. And she just sits there, saying that she got to sign in it. Uhm, yeah, duh, Me-Anne, I didn't even ask you if you did. And you got to sign in it because you've been with Macy most of the time lately, out of sight as well.

Breathe, Hogi. Breathe.

I'm OK now.

The only highlight of today was that I got to be with Ari in between classes. Sure, it was for just an hour, but I was happy enough already being with him. *grin*

Crisel sent me a text message today. She's back from vacation and she started performing in Rep's Snow White (as title role) today. Cool. I can't wait to watch that play. Oh yeah, and I still have to watch Forty Carats before Saturday.

I'm supposed to be working on my HISART Powerpoint presentation on Donatello right now, but here I am again, procrastinating. Plus I haven't started working on the assessment 2 of my HISTORY primer. Nah, I can do that tomorrow morning. If I get to school early, that is. Anyway, my teacher probably won't bother checking tomorrow.

Waheheheheheh, I got lucky in MUSSTUD midterms this afternoon. As it turned out, the test was pretty easy. Part One just consisted of a modified true or false part and an essay part. Part Two was the listening exam, where 30 musical compositions were played, and we had to identify what period it came from.

I lucked out again when Sir Jed was giving out new report assignments. We'll be studying 20th century music for the remaining half of the term, and I got assigned to report on Broadway music. Whee! ^_^

Break's over. Time to work on my HISART project.

I met up with Ari yesterday morning after going to the library. I had to take out the book of Broadway musical scores from our own library for MUSTUD1 class. Then I had to ask Ari to borrow a book from the DLSU library for me. Unfortunately, the book couldn't be checked out because it was an archive, so I had to have it photocpied. It was kind of a hassle, because he had to meet up with this candle-making company that day. I couldn't help apologizing to him again and again after that.

After that, we left, so we went to South Mall, where we had lunch. I was planning to meet Lawyn that day so I could borrow her Hey, Mr. Producer CD, so I went ahead to ATC while Ari went home. As it turns out, Lawyn was working on a group project so she wasn't able to meet me. Oh well. So I went around for a while in ATC before going home.

I can't believe I actually had fun in INTROPD class this morning. First we watched a video of ABS-CSB. We had fun laughing at all the parts we saw when we watched it live. Then we broke into our groups so we could work on our scale models for our assigned plays. Last week, with Miss Cindy's permission, we changed our play (Murder in the Cathedral by T.S. Elliot) to Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen. We managed to do the scaled floor, the walls, and the doors today, and we're gonna work on it some more next week.

While we were packing up all our art supplies at the end of the class, Miss Cindy was giving our group some suggestions on how to dress the scaled set, when I remembered that Iam had a craft book that had a section on dollhouses and dollhouse furniture. Since I was going to her house this evening to return her Left Behind book, I asked her if I could borrow it.

Nyak, when I got home, it was already dark ourside and raining hard that my dad almost didn't let me go back out. Fortunately he let me, but only if he drives me to Iam's house and back. Oh well, that's what we did. Too bad I didn't get to hang out at Iam's house. And then we got stuck in traffic on the way there, and to think that we were already taking the Friendship Route. Anyway, I got the book, and fortunately, the dollhouses features period furniture and clothes, including Victorian, which we needed. Yay.

I'm in the computer lab right now. So I have lotsa time to write what I deleted last night. At the same time I'm doing more research on Broadway composers for my MUSTUD1 class.

So our HISART2 class went on a field trip last Sunday. We met up at the La Salle branch of Wendy's at around 5:30 in the morning, then we set off to Laguna in 2 vans. I was in the first van with Cris, Vane, Anthony, Krystal, Madoka, Dulce, Hazel, and two tour guides from the Artwheel Company, tracey and Vieve. The rest (Dang, Allie, Del, Aiko, Kathy, Kat, Mike, Xol, and Qua) rode in the second van with Miss Dayang.

  • First stop, Pila. We checked out ancestral homes built during the Spanish and American periods, and even went inside one of those Spanish colonial houses. Wow, I love those big windows. Then we waited for the mass to end so we can look at the inside of the Pila church instead of just standing around outside looking at the facade.

  • Then we went to Paete. This place was known for woodcrafts, and woodcraft stores lined every street. We checked out a bunch of those stores and even a store that sells papier-mache. Cris and I wanted these plain papier-mache masks, but only the decorated ones were for sale. Darn. Anyway, we then went inside the Paete church, looking at the paintings and architecture, recalling what we studied last term.

  • After that we went to Pakil, my favorite. We first went inside the house museumof this old guy who happened to be a brilliant artist. Wow, I was in awe. Every wall in the house was lined with his artwork. I especially loved those pieces he put ont he wall next to staircase. Then we went inside the Pakil church, my favorite church among those that we visited. There was a painting of the Pieta on the ceiling that looked exactly like the Pieta sculpture of Michelangelo, and a bunch of other paintings that looked like Boticelli's. Then we went to this store that sold wood carvings. They even had a demo showing how they made those birds and butterflies with the paper-thin wings. It was so amazing, to think that those were carved out of a single piece of wood. I even bought a box made out of rich, dark wood, and small oval boxes I could personalize and give away as Christmas gifts.

  • Next we went to Majayjay church. It was actually kind of pretty. I loved those big arched doorways that I insisted that I had a picture taken with it. Aheheheheh.

  • The last place we visited was Liliw. Like Paete, stores lined every street. This time every store sold shoes and bags. Darn, I wish I brought more money with me that day. If my mom were with me, she'd insist that we browse every store there. Anyway, at the end of one block was the Liliw church. Hardly anyone went inside it, because it was kinda dark inside. Plus we were all kinda tired.

Then Miss Dayang gave us some good news. Next term we'll be studying Asian art, and we'll be going on another field trip. We'll be going to either Singapore or Bangkok! If we get to go to Singapore, we'll be staying in dorms at La Salle Sia. But if either trip falls through, we'll visit Visayas instead, and go to Bohol, Cebu and Mindoro. I sure hope we'll push through with the Singapore/Bangkok trip. I can't wait!

I met up with Lawyn yesterday at around lunchtime so I could borrow her Hey, Mr. Producer CD. Then she invited me to watch Repertory Philippines' production of Scrooge this Saturday. Yay. ^_^ And since she also has a CD compilation of Broadway songs at her house, we decided to meet up yesterday evening at ATC. And that evening, she told me that she'll also be watching Rocky Horror Show a week from Saturday with Luis, reserved four tickets for that night. So Karl and I will get those other two tickets. I can't wait to see Rocky. It's one cool musical/rock opera that I've always been curious about. And I heard that the audience can interact with the show. Coolies.

Got this inkblot test from .

Hogi, your unconscious mind is driven most by Love.

Everyone has a desire to love. But your desire is rooted very deeply in your unconscious and affects many of the decisions you make in life — whether you are aware of it or not.

You have an energy about you that inspires people to experience their true feelings of love and act kindly towards others. In this way, you and your drive for loving relationships start a chain reaction of positive experiences.

The reason you are driven by love, may be because your unconscious is trying to avoid the opposite of love — hate. You, more than others, may be afraid of experiencing severe discord with others. That may, in turn, heavily influence your choices about relationships and the way you communicate your ideas, wants, and desires to others.

With such a strong orientation towards loving others, your relationships hold a very special place in your life. Your capacity to love may be greater than those around you, and therefore you may have more to give in relationships than your romantic partner does. Remember that this is a gift you have and one most others don't possess.

Though your unconscious mind is driven most strongly by Love, there is much more to who you are at your core.

I only had HISTORY class today. We get a free day from HISART2 because of the field trip last Sunday.

Ari and I first planned to go to Greenbelt today for a change. But then he changed his mind, and we decided to go to Zobel instead so he could pick up a copy of the school's old annual reports. So that's what we did.

While I was in line to get a gate pass outside the village, Ari suddenly asked me about the girl standing behind me. He was wondering if it was Marita, one of our classmates from the first Playshop Alabang. We didn't really know, and we only found out till we had boarded the same jeep. Yup, it was her. As it turns out, she was also going to Zobel to ask about renting the auditorium for a play.

Well, we spent a good few hours in Zobel, so Marita could reserve the auditorium and check out the new theater. As for me, I saw a bunch of old friends while Ari went to his pep squad boys. Marah found out that I was around so she hung around with Marita and me.

Anyway, it was great to see Marita again. I haven't seen her since I left UST.

Gotta go. Gotta work on my MUSTUD1 report.

Just arrived home from Shangri-La. I went there after class to watch Repertory Philippines'A Christmas Carol: Scrooge the Musical. Pretty cool, by the way. Menchu was part of the cast, and so was fellow Narnian Meynard, and Topper, my old classmate from CSB.

I met up with Lawyn, Karl, and Luis in Shang at past 7 in the evening, and Justin (Lawyn's "not-so-little" brother) came along as well. We had a quick dinner at Wendy's, but unfortunately, when we got to the theater, the opening song was halfway over. Arg, I hate being late for anything, especially a play.

The set was pretty cool. They made a revolving set on stage right so they could easily change it, and they added black lights for the ghosts. Menchu played Mrs. Pickle, the toy shop owner's wife, which is sort of a minor role for a small cast. Aheheheheh, she happened to be the one with the biggest and heaviest wig in the entire cast. It was so funny how Lawyn, Karl, Luis and I would react every time Menchu would appear or whenever she would say a line (which she hardly did), especially when they played "The Minister's Cat".

Meynard played the Ghost of Christmas Present, dressed up as a huge version of Narnia's Father Christmas. Heheheheh, the role suited him so well. Well, that was his major role. He also played the butcher whenever he wasn't the Ghost.

As for Topper, he played the dual role of Harry, the nephew, and the Young Ebenezer. To tell you the truth, I haven't seen him act before, be it for Rep or for Trumpets. This was the first time I've ever seen him perform. He was my classmate before during my 2nd term in school (in STAGCRA and INTFILM) and he was always my groupmate in INTFILM (he was my producer/director), but he was hardly around in class. And seeing him as Young Ebenezer, I couldn't believe that I was actually in awe. I realized that I'm admiring his performance.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I've always thought that he was on the queer side, and Menchu finally confirmed it tonight.

Anyway, we met up with Menchu in the lobby after the show, and we all hung around at Starbucks for a while, just like old times. It made us realize how we miss each other's company.

It's Dein and Didu's joint birthday this weekend. I already sent a text message to Dein this afternoon. I'll send one to Didu when I wake up later.

Haven't updated this thing for quite a while. I haven't gone online for about a week now. It was kinda surprising to see that my email wasn't full yet when I checked it a few minutes ago.

So what have I been up to for the past week?

I finally had my hair cut last Tuesday morning. It's been a year since I last had my hair cut. At least 2 inches were cut and I actually kinda like it. Of course, eventually I'll grow my hair back long.

My mom and I went to Divisoria last Friday morning. We were on the search for the perfect fabrics for my gown for Ate Vonic's wedding, as well as material for my mom's dress. Then we went to Makati so I can go to the Atlantis office to pay for my Rocky Horror Show tickets. I first went into the wrong office, because Atlantis has 2 offices in seperate buildings. Arg.

Last Saturday morning, I started feeling kinda sick, and when Ems and I went to Harrison Plaza to buy wood stain and plaster of paris, I almost blacked out while we were walking. Good thing I managed to find a place to sit right away. I wasn't feeling too good by the time INTROPD class was over, so I spent the afternoon sleeping in the clinic instead of going to CADRAFT class.

Crazy as I am, when I woke up at around 5:30 in the afternoon that same day, I still decided to go to RCBC Plaza to watch Rocky Horror Show with Karl and Luis (heck, their tickets are with me). So after a quick dinner at Wendy's, I was feeling much better by then, so off I went to Makati. The show was so fun! The moment we got inside the theater, we realized that the actors who played the phantoms were roaming around the audience area, creeping the heck out of people. There was even this one girl who had a phantom standing right in front of her, just staring for a full 5 minutes.

When the show started, this lady with a huge pink wig introduced herself as Roxie, and she flashed illustration boards that had words on them that we had to shout at appropriate moments during the entire show. That was fun, plus we got to sing along with the songs. Oh yeah, and there was this huge group of British people who happened to be loyal fans of the show. They came to the theater all dressed up in freaky costumes and stuff. And they were the only ones to stand up and dance when the "Time Warp" song number first came on. Anyway, we all got our chance to dance the Time Warp when the show ended. It was so funny. We all had a great time and we actually wanted to watch the show again. Next time, we already know how to dance the Time Warp. ^_^

All in all, the show was hilarious. Though Calvin looked awful in drag. And I was hoping that Joel would play Brad.

Arg, I gotta go finish checking my mail. I can't believe I had to wait for another hour just so the chairperson can sign my CAF. I wanted to encode early, darn it.

    Which Rocky character are you?

I've been lying in bed for 2 days straight. This very moment is an exception.

Ever since last Saturday, my fever has been coming and going, arg. Just the other night, I was typing my HISTORY group's oral report when my head started spinning, so I had to email the report I had typed (I had only finished half of it) to Dave so he could finish it. And the morning after that, when we were doing the report, I could feel that I was losing my voice. Bleargh.

Anyway, when I woke up yesterday morning, my head felt so heavy that I couldn't sit up even when my mom was bugging me to get up. Good thing she found out from my voice that I was feeling well, so she let me stay in the master's bedroom with the air conditioner on. Grrr..my head hurts, my nose is clogged, and I keep coughing. Plus I miss my honey so much. Miss you dear. I love you.
