I'm in the computer lab right now. So I have lotsa time to write what I deleted last night. At the same time I'm doing more research on Broadway composers for my MUSTUD1 class.

So our HISART2 class went on a field trip last Sunday. We met up at the La Salle branch of Wendy's at around 5:30 in the morning, then we set off to Laguna in 2 vans. I was in the first van with Cris, Vane, Anthony, Krystal, Madoka, Dulce, Hazel, and two tour guides from the Artwheel Company, tracey and Vieve. The rest (Dang, Allie, Del, Aiko, Kathy, Kat, Mike, Xol, and Qua) rode in the second van with Miss Dayang.

  • First stop, Pila. We checked out ancestral homes built during the Spanish and American periods, and even went inside one of those Spanish colonial houses. Wow, I love those big windows. Then we waited for the mass to end so we can look at the inside of the Pila church instead of just standing around outside looking at the facade.

  • Then we went to Paete. This place was known for woodcrafts, and woodcraft stores lined every street. We checked out a bunch of those stores and even a store that sells papier-mache. Cris and I wanted these plain papier-mache masks, but only the decorated ones were for sale. Darn. Anyway, we then went inside the Paete church, looking at the paintings and architecture, recalling what we studied last term.

  • After that we went to Pakil, my favorite. We first went inside the house museumof this old guy who happened to be a brilliant artist. Wow, I was in awe. Every wall in the house was lined with his artwork. I especially loved those pieces he put ont he wall next to staircase. Then we went inside the Pakil church, my favorite church among those that we visited. There was a painting of the Pieta on the ceiling that looked exactly like the Pieta sculpture of Michelangelo, and a bunch of other paintings that looked like Boticelli's. Then we went to this store that sold wood carvings. They even had a demo showing how they made those birds and butterflies with the paper-thin wings. It was so amazing, to think that those were carved out of a single piece of wood. I even bought a box made out of rich, dark wood, and small oval boxes I could personalize and give away as Christmas gifts.

  • Next we went to Majayjay church. It was actually kind of pretty. I loved those big arched doorways that I insisted that I had a picture taken with it. Aheheheheh.

  • The last place we visited was Liliw. Like Paete, stores lined every street. This time every store sold shoes and bags. Darn, I wish I brought more money with me that day. If my mom were with me, she'd insist that we browse every store there. Anyway, at the end of one block was the Liliw church. Hardly anyone went inside it, because it was kinda dark inside. Plus we were all kinda tired.

Then Miss Dayang gave us some good news. Next term we'll be studying Asian art, and we'll be going on another field trip. We'll be going to either Singapore or Bangkok! If we get to go to Singapore, we'll be staying in dorms at La Salle Sia. But if either trip falls through, we'll visit Visayas instead, and go to Bohol, Cebu and Mindoro. I sure hope we'll push through with the Singapore/Bangkok trip. I can't wait!

I met up with Lawyn yesterday at around lunchtime so I could borrow her Hey, Mr. Producer CD. Then she invited me to watch Repertory Philippines' production of Scrooge this Saturday. Yay. ^_^ And since she also has a CD compilation of Broadway songs at her house, we decided to meet up yesterday evening at ATC. And that evening, she told me that she'll also be watching Rocky Horror Show a week from Saturday with Luis, reserved four tickets for that night. So Karl and I will get those other two tickets. I can't wait to see Rocky. It's one cool musical/rock opera that I've always been curious about. And I heard that the audience can interact with the show. Coolies.
    Currently feeling: chipper
