Just arrived home from Shangri-La. I went there after class to watch Repertory Philippines'A Christmas Carol: Scrooge the Musical. Pretty cool, by the way. Menchu was part of the cast, and so was fellow Narnian Meynard, and Topper, my old classmate from CSB.

I met up with Lawyn, Karl, and Luis in Shang at past 7 in the evening, and Justin (Lawyn's "not-so-little" brother) came along as well. We had a quick dinner at Wendy's, but unfortunately, when we got to the theater, the opening song was halfway over. Arg, I hate being late for anything, especially a play.

The set was pretty cool. They made a revolving set on stage right so they could easily change it, and they added black lights for the ghosts. Menchu played Mrs. Pickle, the toy shop owner's wife, which is sort of a minor role for a small cast. Aheheheheh, she happened to be the one with the biggest and heaviest wig in the entire cast. It was so funny how Lawyn, Karl, Luis and I would react every time Menchu would appear or whenever she would say a line (which she hardly did), especially when they played "The Minister's Cat".

Meynard played the Ghost of Christmas Present, dressed up as a huge version of Narnia's Father Christmas. Heheheheh, the role suited him so well. Well, that was his major role. He also played the butcher whenever he wasn't the Ghost.

As for Topper, he played the dual role of Harry, the nephew, and the Young Ebenezer. To tell you the truth, I haven't seen him act before, be it for Rep or for Trumpets. This was the first time I've ever seen him perform. He was my classmate before during my 2nd term in school (in STAGCRA and INTFILM) and he was always my groupmate in INTFILM (he was my producer/director), but he was hardly around in class. And seeing him as Young Ebenezer, I couldn't believe that I was actually in awe. I realized that I'm admiring his performance.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I've always thought that he was on the queer side, and Menchu finally confirmed it tonight.

Anyway, we met up with Menchu in the lobby after the show, and we all hung around at Starbucks for a while, just like old times. It made us realize how we miss each other's company.

It's Dein and Didu's joint birthday this weekend. I already sent a text message to Dein this afternoon. I'll send one to Didu when I wake up later.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEIN & DIDU!!!
