bonding with Kathy and the girls
Found Kathy online the other night, looking for a manager. She asked me if I knew anyone, so I decided to ask Jill and Tita Sherbet, who were online as well.
Me: wait, question, remember kathy dizon from SIAM?
Jill: yappy whyst?
Me: she's looking for a manager kasi.. know anyone?
Jill: mom / dad?
Jill: safe answer.
Jill: HAHAHA
Me: hahahaha
Me: they have to listen to her first
Jill: mom's online! she can help you with that
Me: tita?
Tita Sherbet: hi
Me: tita, question...
Me: have you seen kathy dizon from the april batch of star in a million?
Tita Sherbet: di mashado register
Tita Sherbet: i saw only da first n last ones
Me: ah...
Tita Sherbet: y?
Me: she's my friend kasi and she's looking for a manager.. do you know anyone?
Tita Sherbet: meeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Tita Sherbet: hahaha
Me: hahaha, yan din sabi ni jill just a few minutes ago
Got Kathy and Tita into a conference, and agreed to meet at the studio today so she and Tito Sunny can listen to her. Also told her to prepare one fast and one slow song to sing.
So Kathy and I went to Greenhill Sound today. Only Tito Sunny was there, because Tita and Jill were still asleep when he left the house. Kathy had brought a minus one of her songs, which were "Waiting For Tonight" and "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw". Popped the minus ones in and had Kathy sing. Then the songs with her voice was recorded for her and then we talked a bit with Tito Sunny. The next step was for Kathy to sing an original song with her own style, so they agreed to meet to pick up the song to study on Saturday at Dish. Hehehe, another excuse for me to go out, plus I get to watch the Akafellas and South Border.
We bid Tito Sunny goodbye and then we decided to go to ATC and hang out. Kathy decided to invite Lawyn, Mae and Jun as well, so she tried to call them. Lawyn agreed, and got Mae to tag along. As for Jun, he wasn't answering his phone. But when we got to ATC, we get the same text message from him that he was in a lunch meeting earlier, and will be joining us after finishing a few errands.
When Lawyn and Mae arrived, we hung out at Powerbooks, and I had to endure almost half an hour of them, because they were half-teasing that Jun and I were a couple, probably because we've been spending so much time together. Uhm, hello? Rackets? That's why we're always together? So of course, when Jun arrived, more teasing galore. But he only had to stay for a while because he had stuff to do at Bene, but promised to return.
Hung around at Food Choices then, just talking, bonding, including commercial breaks of teasing me. Arg... Anyway, we then decided to go to Lawyn's house and watch last year's Bye Bye Birdie showcase, so Lawyn got Tootsie, her grandfather, to pick us up.
Holed up in Lawyn's room and laughed as we watched ourselves on TV. Man, I swear, I looked so funny, and I swear I sounded flat when I sang. And that was when my mic didn't konk out. Plus the set was totally bare, so our colorful costumes saved the show.
Funny parts:
Mae's onstage costume change, where her bra was yanked down because her blouse was caught in it.
Chevy looked like Charlie Chaplin during his first cameo appearance.
I was super bouncy (naks, project talaga, hahahaha!) during "Telephone Hour" and "A Lot of Livin'".
Kathy looked like a maid when she was dressed as a parent.
Ninoy looked like a statue when he posed as Conrad Birdie on top of the platform.
Lawyn's faint was so hilarious during "You Gotta Be Sincere".
The cut of Jun's pants was tapered, not straight cut, so he looked even more like a penguin in "Put On A Happy Face".
I realized that the whole show really was too long, no wonder the audience got impatient. It was dragging. Hey, don't blame us, Tita Menchu chose the musical.
After watching, it was almost time for Kathy and I to leave, but when we got downstairs, I get a text from Jun, asking until what time we will be staying at Lawyn's house. I told him that we were about to leave, but we could stay for a few more minutes if he wanted to catch up. But then he decided not to go anymore. Nyak. We four girls ended up talking about him and other stuff for another hour outside the house, and bonding galore, just because of that. Then Kathy invited Lawyn and Mae to go to Dish with us on Saturday so we can finally have a real girls' night out. Can't wait for that.
