Saturday at Onstage and Dish
Last Saturday afternoon, I went to Greenbelt 1 to meet up with Peachy. Supposedly, we had planned to meet up after that Seventeen Ponds Glam Camp thing at the Expo Exchange, but when I got to Greenbelt, she got me to go in as well. Hahaha, I managed to snag a free shirt because of that. Anyway, I joined her and friend Diana, and we sat around while a couple of girls made up another girl onstage. There was a break in between wherein we get to have all the pasta and iced tea we wanted, then we left and went to Onstage to meet with Meynard and Jeremy.
Found Jeremy in the lobby, and then he told us that we were just to usher the people who held tickets labeled “Sponsor” on them to the seats that were reserved for them. Easy enough, only Jeremy was the one who had the only copy of the list of sponsors and assigned seats. Ngak. He then said that he’ll come back at 7pm (an hour after that), so we went back inside Expo just in time for Kate Torralba to talk about designing shirts and stuff.
When it was time for everyone to design their own shirts, we decided to return to Onstage. A little bit of loitering at the lobby with Cathy (who was selling programs there), then Jeremy said that they were finally letting the sponsors in. Nyak, he still didn’t let go of the darn list so we had to follow him. We felt kinda useless for quite a while because Jeremy was doing all the ushering, so when he stood in the middle of one row of reserved seats, we had a few chances. Surprise, surprise, old blockmate Fred happened to be a sponsor (with girlfriend and his family in tow). I haven’t seen that guy in at least a year. As it turned out, his sister was in the showcase as well.
Jeremy had to go backstage then, so he handed me the list (finally). We did a lot of standing around, because most of the sponsors didn’t come in till later. Found lotsa familiar faces in the crowd, such as Niki, Ninoy, Carl, and even Ariel was there. Then I saw the band standing around at the edge of stage left, so I went over to say hi to Rony and Manman. Hahaha, because the show was Forbidden Broadway, they were all wearing production shirts from Atlantis. There was Urinetown, Hedwig and The Angry Inch, Tick Tick Boom, and Rent. Hahaha, and Rony even wore his Honk! jacket over his Urinetown shirt. Nice concept, guys.
When the show was almost about to start, I found Jeremy emerge from backstage, and I handed him the sponsor list. He said that we can take the unoccupied seats if the ticket holders won’t arrive 5 minutes after the show began. Hehehe, so there, I snagged one of the seats, while Peachy sat in the aisle with Diana and her other Rep friends.
The show was pretty good, actually. Forbidden Broadway with the class’ personal flavor. It was hilarious, and I couldn’t help howling with laughter from my seat. I didn’t even care how loud I was. Heeheehee.
When the show ended, we went onstage and congratulated all the people we knew (heck, the only person I know in the cast was Rich), then Peachy and I grabbed a cab and off we went to Dish. Hahaha, while we were along Edsa, Peach said, “Magkabilang dulo pala yung Makati and QC.” HAHAHAHAHAHA!
We managed to arrive at Dish in time for the ‘Fellas to sing a bunch more songs. At our table, there was Tita Sherbet, Tito Sunny, Jill, Teena, Mic, Chiko, Mika, Sybil, Aileen, Ate Tere, June, Rommel, and Leslie. I just met Leslie that night, but as it turned out, she already saw me last Friday night at Insular Life because she happened to be one of the hosts in Love/Hate Shakespeare’s evening show. Coolness. Ingrid was also there at Dish, so we met up and I introduced her to the Akakada.
Wahahaha, when I told Paulo about Pam’s showcase that night, he texted her right away. “Walanghiya ka, you didn’t tell me you had a showcase tonight…” Nyak, hahahaha. Then I told him about the Master Class’ showcase, and how it was. Waaah, I still keep thinking that I should’ve been there.
I left with Peachy and the Ilacads when South Border had played a handful of songs. Peach and I hung around with Jill and Tita Sherbet in Jill’s room for a while, talking and snacking. Naks, girl bonding, hahahaha. Jill offered to sleep in her parents’ room so Peach and I stayed in her room to sleep. Ehehehe, funny ni Peach when I plugged in the bedside lamp, because it was a touch lamp. Hmmm… I think we fell asleep at around 4:30 or so in the morning.
