Anthony sent me a text message last night, telling me that we have a racket, and we're meeting the director today. When I asked him for more info, he said it was for this short film.

So we met up after lunch at Shangri-La, then he said that we're meeting the guy at Wack Wack Towers. Thanks to Teena's directions, we managed to get there OK. When we got to the lobby to ask about the room we were supposed to go to, this woman came up to the front desk and mentioned the same room. It turned out to be Gina, who works with the director guy we're supposed to meet. She finally introduced us to the director, this American named David.

David first talked to Anthony about technical stuff concerning cameras and sound equipment, until we managed to borrow the library to meet. Gina had to go somewhere so she left the three of us there. Anthony then mentioned that I can act (yikes...), so David said he could let me read parts of his scripts later. Then more talk about technicals, like sounds and lighting, and I let Anthony do all the talking because he's more exposed to that. Then David turned to me and asked what I was exposed to, so I told him that I can do a lot more of the production work aside from acting. After that, we started coordinating schedules, telling him what days we'll be available. This guy named Ogie arrived then, and he discussed more about the cameras they'll be using.

Anyway, about the films, they actually have plans of showing it in the US as well as here in Manila. Huwaw, coolness.

After Ogie had left, David asked me to read scenes from the scripts. I was supposed to read with a few other actors coming in, but they couldn't make it. Anyway, he had three scripts with him, two short films, and one full-length feature film. One of the shorts was called Cheese Hamburger, a comedy about this guy looking for the "perfect cheeseburger". Didn't read that though.

Holy kamote, was even a camera set up to record me while I was reading the script. Ack...

I first got to read through the feature film, called The Wedding of the Century or The Filipino Wedding. The first part was so funny, with the bride and groom arguing inside the church they were checking out. I read the scene a few times with David, with me as the bride and him as the groom, but by the end of each take, I was laughing my ass off at the last few lines. It was really funny. I also had to read another scene as the maid-of-honor finishing the best man's speech because he was too drunk to go on. I think we're gonna have fun with that film, be it behind the camera or acting in front of it.

The other short film, The Purple Heart, is sort of like a drama with a few twists and turns in the end. We read through it as well, but it was kinda cheesy, which was what he was sort of what he was going for, with a 1940s flavor to it. It was OK, I guess.

After the readings, David said we were done, so Anthony and I thanked him and left.

This is gonna be a cool project. I can't wait to start.
