Just updating. You guys are probably wondering why my usually-updated blog suddenly went into comatose.

I got sick during Halloween weekend. It started with a sore throat, then a cold, and reached a slight fever. Grrr... And now, I'm still stuck with a hoarse voice. Hope I can still reach those high notes tomorrow.

So tomorrow's the day. It's time for Joseph to grace the stage of St. Cecilia's Hall.

To CLOKWORX and the Joseph cast, BREAK A LEG! I love you guys!

I'm kinda lazy to update right now, plus I know how long I can write about stuff, so I'll save you guys the torture, hehehe. For now, I'll just leave you with pictures of this weekend.

(Backstage pics of "Joseph"...)

It's Monday, November 8, 2004...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NICCO!!!

Finally, I found the time to update. To save those who don't want to spend too much time reading this, I was nice enough to cut the entry, teeheehee.

(So what happened this weekend?)

Word for the week: "Comatose"

I know a lot of people who could relate to this.

After spending so much time with a group of people, and when you realize that your stint together is finally over, you suddenly feel that emptiness inside. What will you do next? Who will you be with? Will you get to see them again?

After our first run of Joseph, Cris asked me, "Now what am I going to do during 6-9pm every night?" It also hit me that I wouldn't have anything to do either.

Then I frequently get the message "san ka?" everyday. Well, that answered it for me. Until it was time for the restaging.

It's happening once again. Cris posted this in my tagboard: "Heya Hogi, got a question for you... Now that Joseph's over and done with, what do I do to fill my days?? *sigh* I'll miss you guys..."

I got this from Pauline's blog:

We do not remember days. We remember moments.

How appropriate.

For the past couple of days, I was remembering everything that had happened for this 2nd run.

  • Our games of "Killers".
  • Nicco's "make it danceable" workshop, where I ended up getting bruises all over my knees.
  • Going to Starbucks and brainstorming, sometimes not even about Joseph, but other plays we decided to do.
  • Nikki's addiction to coffee jelly.
  • The birth of CLOKWORX.
  • Making time to go to St Scho to watch Arni in Pepe en Pilar at least once or twice.
  • Hanging out at Drei and Miko's condo or Nicco's house until midnight.
  • Rain and Nicco's 15 minutes of fame along Taft avenue, ehehehe.
  • Listening to my collection of musicals for hours on end.
  • Eating the chicken fillet combo at KFC while hearing all these secrets.
  • Arman's hopeless crush.
  • Going as a huge group to the Himala open DTR to watch Henry and Lav in action.
  • Hanging out at Providence with a videoke machine.
  • Going to UP Diliman with Mimay and Nikki for Chocolate Kiss, and putting someone in the hot seat, heeheehee.
  • Meeting the Dasma group for the first time.
  • Maryll's infectious laugh.
  • Aireen's slow voice.
  • Majo's "pa-cute" pose.
  • Nicco's "perfect girlfriend".
  • Arman's birthday bash at the Manila Hotel.
  • My attempt at dancing as part of the chorus.
  • Cha and Anthony's episodes.
  • The "issues" I observe among the cast, nyahahaha...
  • The "Pasencia" and "Maalaala Nya Kaya" videos, starring Nicco and Arman.
  • Miko, the new hot shot director.
  • Ghost stories at Jollibee.
  • Rain's "penoy" joke.
  • The birth of new slang: segue, "chever", horta, comatose.

There's too much to list down here. Let's just say that I fell in love with this crazy bunch of people.

Hmmm... that just inspired me to do another entry. But I'll leave it as a surprise for CLOKWORX, hehehe.

Weird, I haven't blogged in days, and now that I've finally found the ample time to go online, I can't seem to write a thing.

Still going through a withdrawal period. I get various text messages here, and a bunch of missed calls there.

I looked at my blog entries from last year. I had just finished a racket but to keep me from having any withdrawal symptoms, I ended up getting busier with a bigger racket.

Maybe I'll start on that new entry that I mentioned in my previous one.

This entry's inspired by an old LJ meme. Pick about 10 people in your friends list and write about them, but don't give out who they are. They can just post a comment and make them guess who they are in the list.

So I picked 10 people from CLOKWORX/Joseph and wrote something about them. Instead of just a sentence or two, I've written a bit more, so I guess this is easier. Sorry if I couldn't write about all of you. Maybe I will do so in another entry.

Here you go, guys. If you want to make a guess, just leave a comment on this entry...

    (Start guessing...)

It's technically a Friday, so once again, I'll blog about events from the day before.

I got the others to join me to watch Stages of Love at CCP's Silangan Hall at 10pm, but when I checked my schedule of NTF events, I saw that Breakups and Breakdowns, this new musical written by Joel Trinidad, will be shown at the Conference Hall at 5pm. So of course, I wanted to see that as well, and invited people who were free at that time. It's free anyway, hehehe.

I walked to CCP with Rain, Mish, Nikki and Nicco, (I even found Chiko parking her car while we were walking) and went straight to the Conference Hall. When we got to the entrance of the venue, I found Joel standing outside, so I got to introduce him to the others. Then we filed in the theater and got seats near the piano.

Nice concept for a musical. Well, it's pretty common, and some of us figured that the idea probably came from a personal experience. It could happen, right? There was this one song in particular that Topper sang with Sheila Valderrama that I liked and can really relate to. Holy kamote. I can't wait for the show to be produced. Joel, if you can read this, I like what you wrote so far.

    Quote from Rain:
"Isa lang masasabi ko tungkol kay _____: HUBAD!"
    Wahahahahahaha!
And as for Nikki, there was eye candy all around for her, teeheehee...

Lotsa familiar people all around. Some of the members of SPIT were sitting next to us, and even Chiko and Binky were there for Nica, who was part of the cast. Of course, once again, the brilliant man behind the ivories was none other than Rony.

After the show, we went to those outdoor food places near Star City to grab some dinner and to kill the hours away. Ferson managed to catch up, and to our surprise, he had shaved the beard that he was growing for Miko's film. Wahahahaha... Anyway, after a few rounds of videoke for Rain, Son, Mish and Nicco, we then headed back to CCP for Stages of Love.

We arrived at the Silangan Hall a tad early, because I could still hear Noel, Roy, Lana and Jennie running through the songs with Rony. We dawdled near the entrance for a few minutes until we decided to grab a table (or two) near the front. Cris, Arni and Lav even managed to catch up with us.

My golly, for some reason, my hunger wasn't satiated by the two sticks of barbecue with rice that I ate near Star City, so Mish, Nikki, Arni and I ordered pasta before the show began.

Amusing show. I liked how they used a variety of songs ranging from OPM, mushy sentimental love songs, to Broadway musicals.

Hirit lang, close na ang CLOKWORX and SPIT, heeheehee, and it all started with Beepsie and Son.

Getting sleepy. G'night, er, morning, world.

I checked out the shoot of Garahe this afternoon. Ever since I heard it from Miko while he was still conceptualizing and writing it, I got curious at how he writes his films. My golly, the simple beginning of Miko "Tisoy" Pelino, hehehe.

Rode with Arman to the location of the shoot sometime after lunch. When we got there (with Earl and Vivien), they were on a break or something. Wahahaha, there was Son, with his hair dusted with powder to make him look older minus the beard, and Nicco, looking like a haggard kid with his own hair looking like a sorry mop (peace, Nicco!).

The whole time I was there, I noticed how meticulous Miko can be as a director. I wonder what it'll be like to work with him professionally. It would be an interesting experience, specially for me, because I'm not really into film after my last feature film experience.

The shoot was sort of cut short because they were losing daylight, so after they packed up, Miko, Nicco, Son, Drei, Arman, Camille and I went to Camille's house nearby. We checked out the day's coverage so I got to see the scenes they shot earlier during the day. Hahaha, there was this one particular scene with the two guys that they kept doing over and over again, and Son had to say too many cuss words. Nakow, dudugo na bibig mo dyan, hahaha. And I can't seem to count how many times Nicco was hit on the head. Too bad I won't be there for tomorrow's (I mean, today's) shoot. It's gonna be the day when Nicco's gonna be doused with water several times.

Went back to Taft afterwards, and Mish joined us at the condo for a while until Miko had to go home.

Well, part of the reason I won't be going back to the shoot tomorrow is that I sort of felt useless. Plus ang kapal naman ng mukha ko to show up there just to watch them. And even if I did want to help, what on earth could I do?

Oh yeah, here's something else. If you would start a rumor concerning someone else, I'd appreciate it if you don't. Or if you want to talk about something about someone, please talk it out with the person himself or herself. That's all. Bow.

Before I forget, good luck to Ferson! I'll be rooting for you!

For some reason, the song "Fantasies Come True" from Avenue Q is playing in my head. Arg, LSS...

Plus I'm craving for lotsa things all throughout the day. First I wanted a Chicken Caesar salad from KFC. Then I wanted tapa from Binalot (which I didn't get because I didn't want to wait 10 minutes for the rice when I was in Food Choices Glorietta this evening). Then I also want a turkey breast sandwich from Subway. And when I got home, I wanted popcorn, but my brother already popped and ate the last bag of microwave popcorn. Gr...

Maybe tomorrow (I mean, later) I'll satiate at least one of the cravings in ATC.

Borrowed the script of Tick Tick Boom from Krystal so Ting could use it for Mio's class. I have to admit, I didn't get to watch the musical when it was shown in RCBC. So I read through the script. The main guy in the play, Jon, is turning 30 years old, and is a starving artist, trying to write his first musical.

I wonder... Will I survive just doing theater? Even with other events on the side? Or will I be like the rest and submit myself to call center duties?

Imagine Hogi as a starving artist, hahaha.

    Yikes.

    Gotta get some sleep.

I went to ATC yesterday to check out the Hush Puppies fashion show. The Akafellas were there to perform, being the new image models as well as recorded "Bounce", the shoe line's radio ad. Aside from the "South Beeches" (hehehe, we coined that term just yesterday) of the Akakada, I also invited people from CLOKWORX who were living in the south, specially Glenn, who was actually a huge fan of the boys.

Found Jenn when I got to ATC. She was at Recipes with her friend Jennie, who happened to be Robi's cousin. Then I met up with Teena and Aileen in Starbucks. Hahaha, we were there for quite some time, and we didn't even notice that Karl was sitting at a couch in one corner! Rommel, Ate Tere, Glenda and Mina joined us as well.

When the show started, there was this acoustic group as a front act. I honestly didn't like the girl's voice. Like Jenn said, parang there's something wrong with it. Oh well. After enduring 7 or 8 songs, it was time for the first part of the fashion show. Oooooh, eye candy... One of the models was Alvin Alfonso from that Ponds commercial. Huwaw. Uber-cute.

Nicco and Drei arrived at ATC when the Akafellas were about to start. Hahaha, Drei even asked me to record their singing with his camera. After a while, my arms got tired, so I handed the cam back to him.

After the fellas short set of 3 songs, I went with Nicco and Drei to eat. Settled at Carl's Jr. while we waited for Glenn to arrive. Rawr, too bad he missed the fellas. And we even missed the fireworks show after eating. Darn. So after playing around at Timezone, we piled up in Drei's car and went off to Nicco's house.

We mostly hung around at the lot near Nicco's place, sitting there, just talking. Most people enjoy going out and malling, going to clubs and bars (I did too for a while), but there's nothing I enjoy more than spending hours sitting around and talking with friends, even though I usually play the role of quiet observer.

Getting hungry. Need to eat. I just woke up and I haven't even had breakfast yet, and it's already lunchtime. I'm gonna spend the day in my room reading "Wicked" that Teena lent me. Thanks Teena!
    Currently feeling: hungry

Went to another shoot of Garahe yesterday. Rain, Mish, Drei, Nicco, Arman and I rode with Earl to the location (which was actually Camille's place) and found the others waiting for us.

While the group was setting up, Rain was getting hungry, so Mish and I went with him and found this carinderia where he could eat. Spent quite a while walking around and even afterwards for their yosi break, then we decided to head back. They were shooting one scene with Nicco and Rian in one of the upstairs bedroom, and they had just finished when we got there. Hahaha, what was that again, Rian? Hahantayin kita? Wahehehe.

When Ferson texted that he had arrived at the plaza near the church, Mish, Rain and I went there to pick him up. Found him at a kwek-kwek stand, where Rain indulged in as well. On our way back, we passed by a place selling barbecue and isaw and lots more, so of course we had to stop by and buy some.

And that's where the food trip began. We kept coming back in twos or threes to that ihawan for more. Mmmm... isaw... Hehehe.

Back upstairs in the same bedroom, they began shooting a scene with Nicco and Son. I was the lone spectator in the room, Miko directing and holding the uber-hot light, Drei and Rian manning the cameras, Earl with the boom mic, Lye as clapper girl, and Ann (konked out on the bed) with the continuity clipboard. And the scene took 15 takes, ehehehe. My observations? It took a while for Nicco to be completely comfortable in the scene. It showed in the way he ad-libbed in the last few takes. And no offense to Miko's directing, filming and screenwriting prowess, but why does Caloy have to be makulit in asking Tsyong about what he was supposed to say? He's been put down by his uncle for most of his life and he suddenly shifts. So when Nicco delivered the eager lines, he came out... well, sarcastic. Oh well, ignore me. That's why I'm afraid to critique a friend's work.

Here's something. Sometime during the 14th take, I was just on the bed watching the scene. Apparently Son was using me as a focal point but when I was about to smile, I looked away to keep from ruining the scene. Found Rian smiling, and after a few moments, he let out some gas. Loudly. Wahahaha.

After the 15th take, we went downstairs for a while. As it turned out, Mimay and Nikki had arrived while we were upstairs. When the crew returned upstairs, Nikki joined me to watch. Hahaha, because of some quip made by Lye earlier, they made this funny scene where she disappears into nowhere after clicking the clapper. Kulet.

Then after shooting a last scene for the night with Nicco and Mish, everyone retreated inside Camille's house for dinner while watching Blind Date and The Fifth Wheel on ETC. Rawr, what sucks about our cable provider is that it doesn't have ETC. Anyway, when everyone was done eating, the camera was hooked up to the TV and watched the day's coverage.

Noonienoo... Bum day today. I need a racket. Anyone?

    Look at Violet go!

Zeneida Amador passed away yesterday, November 28, 2004, due to lung cancer. She made a huge imapct on Philippine theatre, even though I haven't known her personally.

Sometimes I wonder what it would've been like to work with her. Sometimes I'd rather not, being the coward that I am, hahaha.

To quote Krystal, "she left a dent on just about every good thespian you will see on the Philippine stage today." So true. Most of the theater biggies in the country have had a taste of Repertory Philippines' "Tita Bibot", turning them into the superb actors and actresses that you see on the stage today.

    Please pray for her soul.
