I never realized how talking about randomness over the phone can be inspiring.

My right shoulder's slightly sore.

I woke up yesterday morning when my brother burst into my room and started kicking my bed, saying "Badminton tayo!"

So of course I had to get up. I hardly get to have fun with my brother. Badminton's one of the few things we agree on, so I couldn't pass up this chance.

Kuya, Ate Maui, Grace and I went to the badminton court at the country club in our village. Our first attempt at doubles was crazy. I teamed up with Grace, and Kuya with Ate Maui. I was laughing practically the whole time because of my brother's crazy moves. Kuya then decided we team up instead to improve my game, specially when I serve. I was still laughing, but hey, at least I got better, even though he would bark orders at me, hahaha.

"Basta alternate tayo, at all costs!"
"Hit the damn ball!"

Hahaha, my brother kept getting cockier and cockier as the game progressed. He even kept dancing around, and doing these mock game faces. When Ate Maui called for a break, she and Grace sat down on the bench, but Kuya and I played a singles game. Because we got so used to playing on our street with the wind blowing, malalakas tuloy lahat ng tira namin. I think Ate Maui thought that we were taking the game a bit too seriously, hahahahaha!

When we decided to have our own water break, we let Grace and Ate Maui play on their own. Then we had another game of doubles for the last 10 minutes of our time before we headed home.

Went to Taft during the afternoon. Found Nicco the moment I stepped into UM, and joined him and Drei at McDo, where we waited for Mish. Then Nikki arrived and we decided to go to Robinson's Place to watch Sigaw.

We took a cab going to RP, and when we pulled up in front of the mall, no one wanted to hold all the money to pay the driver. We ended up dumping all the money into Nicco's palm. Hahaha, not wanted to count all the money, he had this panicked look, saying, "Math! Math! Wag nyo pahawak sakin yung pera!" Then we all got off the cab, leaving him there to count the money and give it to the driver.

But when we were walking inside the mall, Nicco suddenly said that he couldn't find his wallet. Oh no. We all went back outside, in hopes of finding the cab again as we walked down the street. Rawr. No sign of the cab we rode. Darn it... after losing Miko's video camera to another taxi cab, we still haven't learned our lesson.

We sort of let it go and bought tickets to Sigaw, bought food to bring inside, then we went to the theater.

The movie was... well, it looked too much like an art film. Plus in the real world, who would want to live in an apartment/condo like that? It looks like it should be condemned. And the lead character just said that all his savings and his dad's as well was put into paying for his unit? If it were real-life, he was ripped off.

After the movie, we went back to Taft and hung around at Drei's condo for a while. We suddenly started talking about what would happen to us after college. Interesting.

We were all about to go home at around 10:30 when I suddenly said "coffee jelly" while we were crossing the street. Hahahaha, temptation. We ended up at Starbucks with Coffee Jelly frappes.

Oh yeah, one simple phone call to Rosch and a simple quip by Nicco got us all thinking. Well, it did get the others thinking. Very interesting, hahaha.

Oooh, Atlantis will be holding Beauty and the Beast auditions on the 22nd. Share ko lang.

Yesterday, I was online chatting with Mai and she saw one of my cryptic blog entries about getting attached. Hahahaha. Nope, I'm not attached to someone. It meant getting too attached to people.

Imagine being in a room with other people, each one keeping a secret from someone else. And there's one person in that room who knows what the other people are hiding from each other.

I think I'm cracking. But I'm still smiling, ehehehe.

I remember a few years ago that I was in a totally opposite position. I got so annoyed with people whispering around me within that small cubicle space. I always found that rude. But why the hell am I doing it now?

Could it be because I was content not being in the outside anymore? But somehow I felt disappointed in myself when I tried being in someone else's shoes. I see question marks on other people's faces, and saw myself years ago.

While I was on the phone the other night, Nicco told me about auditions for a production of Beauty and the Beast in school. Holy kamote. By "Green Stage"? (Uhm, Blue Rep people out there, what do you think?)

I was just thinking, why join the hype that Atlantis will be bringing Beauty and the Beast to Manila? I know they want to do a musical, so why not something else? Why not Into the Woods (hala, Sondheim, hahaha) or something.

I might check them out next week.

Oh yeah, because of all the auditions that are coming up, I found these audition tips from Rony's blog...

  • Avoid learning a new song for the audition, go with what you know really well.

  • Avoid songs from the following musicals : Les Miz, Saigon, Cats, Phantom, Ten Commandments the Musical

  • Get the piano piece for your song well ahead of the audition date. The audition should not be the first time you'll be singing that song with a piano.

  • These are happy musicals, do NOT sing a ballad. Character pieces work best.

  • Show off your belting range, choose the part of the song that soars, no long intros

  • If you don't have the time to memorize your song, don't bother auditioning

  • Understand your song, a beautiful voice alone isn't enough.

  • NO DISCLAIMERS before you audition like "I don't really know this song" "I have a sore throat" " I just found out about the audition yesterday" "I went out last night and have no voice" "I'm pregnant" Just go up, say your name and sing.

  • Don't choreograph your audition, please.

  • Character pieces... Hahahaha... Interesting.

Anyway, good luck to all those trying out!

Out of sheer boredom, Nicco got Ferson and I to hang out at his house yesterday afternoon. That, and he wanted to ask for Son's help with his audition song for the CSB production of Beauty and the Beast, and he wanted to borrow my handouts and scripts that he could possibly use for his classes.

So Son and I met up at South Mall then we headed for Nicco's house together. Found him in his living room, watching Y Speak. We finished the show and then Nicco then asked us what song he should sing. Went through a collection of Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra songs until he finally settled on Wicked's "Wonderful". Hahaha, perfect.

I ended up with "Wonderful" as my last song syndrome, rawr. Then after a while, we let Son check out some of the other songs in the musical, and then Nicco said that I could try singing "Popular" for the audition. Ahehehehe, we'll see.

(And to think that I'm actually listening to that song right now, hahaha!)

This week I'm hoping to get the karaoke CD of Wicked from Ernest. Wheeee!
Currently listening to: Popular from "Wicked"

During the last quarter of 2002, I dyed my hair with some color labeled "Intense Lightest Blonde". My stylist told me that because I hadn't colored my hair before, it wouldn't be too extreme-looking. So I spent the first few months with mouse-blond hair.

When I went back to have my hair cut, I decided to color my hair with a darker shade of brown, and settled on chestnut.

I had chestnut brown hair that set off like fire during sunset for about two years, and to think that I was the type of person who liked to blend in the crowd. But I actually enjoyed the fact that my hair sort of stood out.

So after those two years of having chestnut locks, I finally decided to restore my hair back to its original color. And I didn't even have to spend for it, because my mom did it. After a couple of phone calls to our stylist on what color to use ('Intense Medium Brown"), I had about one tube of haif gook on my hair, hahaha. I actually missed my uber-dark tresses.

Nyak, this post sounded pretty trivial.

I decided to check out Greenstage's auditions of Beauty and the Beast yesterday. Ahehehe, only two people auditioned. Ryan (I wasn't surprised when he was the very first one who signed up to try out) and Penny, a friend of his. Darn, when the auditions were about to start, Miss Cindy shooed Mish and me out of the room, because only she and Sir Jethro were the ones who were supposed to watch the people. So Mish and I spent the time sitting in the hall with Rain, Eika and Rie, singing Broadway songs from the book of musical scores that Ryan brought.

I have to admit, I can hardly read music. Most of the notes I can read usually came from drum notations, back when I still played the drums, ahehehe. I quit after six months of lessons, and after that, I only played the drums once during a jamming session with my friends during my first year of college.

As it turned out, Miss Cindy will be holding auditions until next week. Oh well. I wonder what the turnout will be.

    (Check out my hair...)

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAJO !!!

    Hehehe, her signature pose.

To one of the sweetest girls I met during the 2nd run of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, happy birthday!
She's such a joy to be with; she's always game for anything and I can always count on her for a hug. And that pa-cute pose she always does never fails to amuse me. Miss yah, girl!

I went to school yesterday afternoon to check out the 3rd audition day of Beauty and the Beast. Rain and I got there when Eika and Vivien were still setting up, then when Sir Jethro arrived, we sat with them outside at the registration area. Hahaha, he kept asking if we were finally going to audition that day, but I kept insisting that I'll audition next week instead.

Hehehe, we ran into Kevin at the SIO before the auditions and he said that he wanted to try out. Sure enough, he was the first to sign up. The whole time we were there, he was the only one who had signed up, nyak. There was a guy and a girl earlier, but they suddenly backed out and disappeared when they saw the third part of the audition, which had something to do with movement/dance.

Anyway, when Kevin had finished his audition, Sir Jethro peeked outside and asked if there were any new people who had signed up. Then he looked at me and Rain. "Audition na rin kayo." And then back at me, "Ngayon ka na, para may kasama sa reading ito," gesturing to Kevin. So OK, fine, I grabbed the forms and Rain and I filled them out. Then Vivien led me inside.

They first got me to read some parts of the script with Kevin, just bits here and there. After that, they asked me if I can sing. Hahaha, impromptu. I thought they were thinking of taking out the songs and making it into dialogue. Oh well. So the first song that popped into my mind was "Popular" from Wicked, hahahaha!

Finally, movement. They had me cross from stage left to stage right as a flirty Visayan feather duster. Huh? After being makulit with all my questions, oh well, glide here and there, with Sir Jethro and Miss Cindy just whispering and laughing at me. Ehehehe... Then they had me as Belle seeing the Beast for the first time. Ngek.

Then Rain went inside. Vivien called me back after a few moments so I can read more lines with Rain as one of the Bimbettes. "What's wrong with her?" "She's crazy." "He's gorgeous." HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh well, I'm out for now. My brother's rushing me to get off his new laptop, ehehehe...

Last Saturday was Sybil's debut, so Teena, Peachy, Aileen and I all met up at Shang so we can all go to Teena's house together to get ready for the party. Hahahaha, it was so hilarious how we were all trying to get ready. I was getting Peachy to help me with my makeup...

    Peachy: Close your eyes.
    Me: They're already closed.
    Teena: Close your eyes more!

My goodness, Peachy brought more stuff than I did, and to think that I was the one sleeping over at Teena's house, hahahaha!

Then Teena got her sister Tycel to help her with her makeup. They looked so funny on the bed. Teena was leaning back, almost lying down, to get the perfect lighting, and Tycel was leaning over her. What an awkward position, hahaha!

So this is what we all looked like afterwards, photo courtesy of Teena...

    Ew, I look bloated...

Anyway, then we all went to Windmills and Rainforest, where the debut was going to be held. The first familiar faces we saw were Mika, Lucia and June. June saw us instantly, and then Mika and Lucia then ran to us at the same time...

Mika and Maw: Ate Teena! Ate Hogi! Ate Aileen! Peachy!
Then holding hands, they ran down the steps together...
    "1, 2, 3, 4, 5!"

    Ahehehe...

The party was pretty good. Hahaha, Sybil was like a one-person show, greeting everyone, calling the photographer every now and then, and even getting a lone table to finally sit and eat! Then she was also the one who carried her presents out and distributed the giveaways.

My mind just went blank. I'll edit this later.

Man, I haven't blogged in a while, and I actually missed it.

Last Monday, I found out from Nicco that the preliminary cast list for Greenstage was up, and my name was in it. Ngak, I already expected they'd accept everyone who had gone through the first audition.

I went to check out the auditions again today. Whoops, I mean, yesterday, now that I just saw that it's already past midnight. So anyway, when I got there, I also found Lawyn at the registration booth with Eika, Vivien and Myra. As it turned out, she was getting Mae to try out. Hehehe, the first audition of the day. Lawyn, Mish, Nicco and I even pressed our ears to the door every once in a while to listen to her audition. Hahahaha, she sang "The Story Goes On" from Baby.

And just when I thought that Mae was the only one who was going to try out (Lawyn couldn't because she's working backstage as OJT for the lights), Drei arrives and signs up as well.

Oh yeah, while I was hanging around with everyone else outside the multipurpose hall, I saw the audition forms of the people who tried out last week, including mine. And on the back of every form were comments from the panel (which consisted of Miss Cindy and Sir Jethro). I couldn't resist checking them out. Written on mine was "Good projection" and "featherduster". Huh? Nyak, as if that role wasn't written on every girl's form. Oh well.

Hehehe, Nikki's trying out tomorrow. I mean, today. And Rosch might be trying out on Friday, as well as Nicco. Hala, reunion ba ito ng Clokworx?

I went to Oppen yesterday to the auditions of Atlantis Productions' Beauty and the Beast. Blahahaha, call me a chicken, but I didn't sign up. Just like what happened during Urinetown auditions the other year. I don't know. Maybe I still enjoy the thrill of being a crew member instead of just a performer. I prefer knowing everything that's going on instead of just onstage. Plus, my usual excuse that I didn't have a music score/minus one.

Oh, the schizo in me. The frustrated theatre actress is mentally slamming the lurking backstage crew member against the wall and calling her a chicken. And I could actually see it in my mind. Hahahaha!

I met up with Peachy at RCBC first because she didn't know how to get to the venue. Then we took a jeep to Pacific Star and walked the rest of the way to Oppen. My golly banana, it was only half past the first hour but there were so many people already. I found Teena near the restrooms, and as it turned out, she went there with Joy. Hahaha, Teena, I didn't know that you were going there until you texted me while I was on my way. Woohoo, Pam was also there to try out.

Led Peach to Ate Sally, who was at the registration table. We bumped into Joy at the glass door, and when she said that she was done auditioning, Peachy tried to grill her about what happened inside.

The first one I accompanied inside the waiting area was Pam, who was number 14. The small area was crowded with people waiting for their numbers to be called out by Miss Bernice, and Pam and I were just standing there, talking and talking. Hahaha, hilarious moment. At one point, when I heard music stop inside the rehearsal area, I suddenly turned out Pam and said, "Wait, anong number na?" I didn't have to wait. Miss Bernice came out and said Pam's number and took her by surprise!

Hehehe, can I just say? It was the first time I saw Peachy so nervous. Maybe because it was her first time to try out for a big production. Kaya mo yan, Peach! She couldn't even decide whether to sing her selected piece, "I Enjoy Being a Girl" from Flower Drum Song, or "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas, which she borrowed from Joy. I had to tell her to go with the former because it's what she rehearsed.

Jenny also came later in the morning to try out. She had to wait until after the 15-minute break for lunch, so we all waited with her outside.

Aba, Altair was also there! He said that he wasn't really planning to try out, but his friends from Blue Rep managed to get him to.

When I saw Rony pass by me when he was on his way to the restroom, he just had to mention that he read my blog and saw the "featherduster" entry. Hahahaha! Thanks for dropping by, Rony!

Rawr, I missed seeing the Joseph people. I just found out today from Mimay that she was there along with Henry, Son, Lav, Arni and Prof at around 2:30 in the afternoon, just when Teena, Pam, Peachy and I went across to Chicken Bacolod for lunch!

I left early with the three of them for Glorietta after returning the Tick, Tick... Boom! script that I borrowed from Krystal. Then off I went to return to the south.

Ended up hanging out with Drei and Nicco at Nicco's house. First we were just helping Nicco with his Techdra plate (well, I tried to, hahaha... it's been a long while since I last did the same plate of the theater floor plan), then we watched the Disney cartoon of Beauty and the Beast. We only got to watch half of it on VCD, because Drei couldn't find the 2nd CD of the video. After a few card games, we decided to spend the rest of the night at Starbucks. Hahaha, we were talking to Mish on the phone while I was helping the two guys make their write-ups for Stephen's thesis. My golly, I've been making people yearbook and program write-ups since my 2nd year in CSB. Don't you think I should start getting paid for this? Hahaha.

I'm out for now. Good luck to those trying out for Once On This Island today!

Sana'y masabi sa awit kong ito
Lahat ng ninanais nitong puso ko
Sana saan man patungo sa buhay
    May pag-ibig, may pag-asa
    May saya at saysay
Sana'y sa bawat sandali matikman pa
Sarap ng pagsasam at simpleng ligaya
    Tara na, sakay na
Malay mo, nandyan lang, nandyan lang
    Ang hinahanap mo.

Hahaha, this song from that Coke commercial has been running in my head repeatedly since last night. To the people I was with last night, this is all your fault.

Last week, I couldn't resist sneaking a peek at the comments in my audition sheet of Greenstage's Beauty and the Beast. No roles were final yet, but I think they were considering me as a Bimbette. "Featherduster" was also written.

Yesterday, the cast met for the first time for script reading. Before I go on, this production of Beauty and the Beast is actually a combination of about 3 different scripts of the story. Partly from the Disney cartoon, as well as the versions where Beauty/Belle has 2 sisters. The songs were taken out except for "Something There" and "Beauty and the Beast," and even those songs were inserted in different scenes.

Anyway, during the reading, we kept switching roles around, deleted some scenes, and changed the names of the characters. Eventually they took out the Featherduster character, nyahaha.

The funniest parts of the evening were the scenes with Chip in it. Rosch and Mae pulled it off pretty well, hehe. So far, one definite role I have is one of the Bimbettes, and possibly one of Belle's sisters. Plus Miss Cindy wants me to study two other roles. Gak...

Finally started actual rehearsals for Beauty and the Beast this evening. According to the schedule, we were supposed to block the first couple of scenes. We ended up blocking those scenes and kept going on, marking the whole thing until the very end.

    That was fast.

When Miss Cindy told me what role I was going to do this evening, I was terrified.

I swear, I won't be able to pull this off. Pressure... Gah... All throughout this evening's rehearsal, I still couldn't quite grasp the character yet. I'm afraid that I won't be able to flesh it out. Holy kamote, I'm gonna be this terrifed for 3 months.
    Currently feeling: scared

It's been quite a while since I last spent a Saturday in school. I had to be in CSB yesterday for rehearsals.

After marking practically the entire play last Friday night, we kept going yesterday. This time, more on character than blocking. Hahaha, I can never cut it as a girly-girl, I'll tell you that. I looked so ridiculous during one scene until Sir Jethro gave me a purpose. Kasi naman, I don't have a clue about gardening, hahaha. Plus I was so bulol when Rosch and I switched roles.

After rehearsals, Nikki, Rosch and I had an early dinner at McDo. Once Rosch got picked up by her dad, Nikki and I passed by the condo to kill a few minutes before we were supposed to go to CCP with Nicco and Drei. We wanted to watch this show by the dance students of CCP who are doing their thesis. Plus Mish was also there, working backstage. Hahaha, Mish, may shining moment ka pala with that mop.

I feel out of it these days. I don't know why. Pero smile pa rin.
