the crazy week that went by
Man, oh man...
This past week has been pretty crazy.
First of all, it was Doubt's production week. Started rehearsing at RCBC by Monday, and despite all my efforts to keep my mind from thining of trivial things that have been bothering me, I couldn't keep myself sane enough while on my toes. Good try, but not good enough. It was exhilirating, but fulfilling. I was trying to juggle everything, and by the time I find myself at home in front of my laptop, I feel myself crashing. During the last Y!M conference with my BA friends, I didn't manage to hold a good conversation.
Wednesday, May 31
We had 2 DTRs that day, and during the evening DTR, we had an audience, mostly composed of people from Blue Rep as well as the students from Nic's Rep workshop class. It was also a rehearsal for the new ushers as well. Chari had contacted some Blue Reppers to work as ushers for us this year. Coolness. And to my surprise, Tricia was one of them! Wheeee!
Thursday, June 1
Oh my, the press preview. I had invited Iam and Ge to come watch the show because they work in the same building, so it was easy to get them to come. Wheeee. I was so excited because it was finally time for a real show. Oh man, of all the things to happen to the preview, Nic's mic went out in the beginning of Act 2, mostly due to sweat that had got into the mic head. Arg... We had to wait for the long Scene 3 to fix and replace the darn thing, ahehehe. There's always a next show.
Friday, June 2
Finally, opening night. Nothing very exciting happening, really. We figured out some way to keep Nic from sweating on his mic, hahaha. This clip attachment for the mic, rolls of tissue paper everywhere, and even an anti-perspirant, hehehe. During the long scene in Act 2, I suddenly felt sleepy and found myself lying on the bench that we use for the garden scenes, hahaha.
After the show, we all went to the lobby for the opening night cocktail party. Found myself devouring the pesto pasta, too tired to be fazed by the people mingling about, except when I tried to drag Tricia (who refused) to meet Lea. I hardly had a drop of alcohol in my life, but once Nica had put the glass of wine in my hand, I couldn't refuse and quickly downed it before I had to commute home.
Saturday, June 3
First of all, it was Mia's birthday! Her mom had brought food and we dug in once it was all set up in the big dressing room downstairs. We were happily content eating and even came up with each of our quotable quotes from the play...
I thought you were satisfied with me.
Art is a waste of time.
I have been longing for the return of my peace of mind.
There was alcohol on his breath.
It's just til June.
Wahahaha...
JP, Mimay, Julia, Jonna, Fiancee, Michelle and Betty (with hubby) came to watch the show last night! Hahaha, I had a heck of a time trying to reserve tickets for them because not everyone had confirmed right away. Nicco was also supposed to go but had to cancel at the last minute because he suddenly had a scheduled shoot for Martin's thesis. Thanks for watching, guys!
After the show, we had to strike the set because the theater had another booking during Sundays or Mondays. Arg... that means we have to strike everything every week! Peach, my apologies if I wasn't of help to you. I was so ngarag.
I managed to catch up with them after the strike. Found them hanging out at Starbucks at PeopleSupport just across the street. I was still a mess when I got there, so seeing them was refreshing so I managed to relax a bit. Then we decided to move to Gloria Jeans in Glorietta because it was open for 24 hours. Styed there and relaxed on the couches in one corner, and even got some good ol' Mickey D's to match a couple of drinks. Nicco managed to catch up with us at around past 2 in the morning (or was it 3?), and then when we noticed that most of us were already snoozing on the couches, we decided to go to Bagtay again.
Mimay, Julia, Jonna and I were the only ones who ended up going. Betty had to go when they had gotten food at McDonald's, and JP went straight home after leaving GJ. Plus Nicco had to go to Westin Philippine Plaza then, because his family was there. So the 4 of us hopped on a bus along Edsa and off we went to Julia's pad. By the time we had settled down in the bedroom, we almost immediately fell asleep.
I woke up briefly early in the morning to find Jonna leaving to meet with a friend, and then fell asleep again. Woke up once again to go to the bathroom and back to sleep. It was almost 12 by the time Mimay, Julia and I were finally awake enough. We went to SM North for lunch at Yellow Cab, and then it was high time I had to go home.
My mind is still a flurry of thoughts. Probably because I've been to busy to sit and think. I need more coffee time alone. I haven't had one in ages. Darn it, Mia, you'd better get that coffee jelly ready by closing weekend, hahaha.
I hope this week will be better. Meeting up with a couple of friends tomorrow will be quite a change from the hectic office-rehearsal-and-show days.
