Entries for September, 2006

I'm alive! Hahaha. And another long update is way overdue. Here we go.

Wednesday, August 23

Went to CSB in the evening to watch Agleon with Nikki, Betty, Michelle, and Michelle's friend (oops, I forgot his name). I had to meet up with Peachy outside CSB first so she can give us our tickets. Hahaha, I was already with Betty, Michelle and her friend then, and when Peachy appeared, Betty quipped that she looked like a scalper, clutching our tickets and three cellphones at the same time. Nikki followed a few minutes later and we all trooped inside the CSB theater.

Interesting film. We learned that "agleon" meant "inner demon" or something like that. And one thing I have to say is that I lost all respect for Miko and Nicco, HAHAHAHA! Joke!

After the film, Nikki and I shared a venti frappuccino in Starbucks and talked until her mom picked her up. Aw, too bad it was cut short too soon.

Thursday, August 24

For this particular evening, I went to CCP to watch Nathan's thesis. Oops, I forgot the title of the play. But as the show progressed, it was actually loosely based on the story of King Solomon. Drei played one of the villains in this one. It was mighty interesting. Ambitious, but well done. Drew, Russell, Camille and Niki were all in it as well. The surprise was Vanju, this guy from Benildanze that I met back when Greenstage produced Beauty and the Beast. He played Magiting, the sort of King Solomon character.

Oh yeah, I finally met Drei's new girlfriend, Phoebe, then. Whatever happened to Tin, I have no idea.

Friday, August 25

It was time for Michelle's Big Night! Hahaha, yeah, that's what we called her birthday bash at EGI Tower's The Venue. I arrived at her condo at around 6 in the evening and found Betty and Fiancee getting their hair and makeup done, while Tin hung around for a while. I had my turn as well the same time Michelle did, while Ian hung around as well.

Michelle's party was a sort of mini-reunion for the BA gang. There was me, Michelle, Betty, Fiancee, Carmi, Jenny, JP, Jonna, Kai, Mimay Mervyn and Nicco. Mish and Nikki were there as well. I had a blast, seeing everyone in one place again. Ian, Mimay and Merv (with his band, Tissue) even performed. Oh yeah, Miss Tess also made it, bringing Wenah and Bong with her. Hahaha, she even got to dance with Lance the macho dancer after that rigged game of Strip Q&A. Ooooh.

A whole bunch of us retired to Michelle's condo after the party. There was me, Michelle, Mimay, Carmi, Ian, Fiancee, Betty, Lance, as well as Michelle's DLSU friends, Cris, Yuan (sp?) and Paula. Had a little talk with Betty before she went home, then just hung around the bedroom with the rest of the gang. Hehehe, I even got Je to join us when the sun was coming up and a whole bunch was already asleep.

My oh my, it was summer all over again, because we (Michelle, Mimay, Fiancee, Ian, Je and I) stayed in Michelle's condo until the afternoon. At first we were just hanging around the bedroom, until Ian threw up (ew!), then we all settled ourselves in front of the TV.

Nothing much happening in the week that followed. Then yesterday morning, I got a text from Je when I was about to leave for the office. He told me that we might get to go to the Palanca awards that night. But when we met up in the evening, there was no confirmation yet from Arnold, so we decided to go to Penguin Cafe in Malate. Oh my, I never really hung out in Malate ever before except that one time our BA class went to watch JP's film Balay Daku. I keep hearing about Penguin from Ian and a bunch of others, specially from the people from Tanghalang Pilipino, but I've never been there.

Ahahaha, the first familiar face I saw as soon as we arrived was Miss Tess. Of course, when she saw that I was there with Je, she immediately gave this questioning but teasing look, ahahaha.

Anyway, the Makiling Ensemble played that night, and I had such a blast just listening to them as the TP people trickled in. There was Ate Naomi, Wenah, Mailes, Marj, Randy, Lao (sp?), Shing, Angeli, Bong, Cris. Even Michelle managed to come by. Every time someone would arrive, they would tease Je and me. Holy kamote. And Cris was ever so persistent that I desperately thought of a way to get back at him, hahaha.

All in all, it was a fun night. It wasn't the Palanca awards, but I had a blast. Thanks, Je!

What's with you? I don't think I know you anymore.

My goodness, I remember how you told me that I had changed. Look who really has changed.

Where's "happiness" when you need it. Ahahaha...

Tell me again why I'm doing this.

Oh yeah, you have no idea. Darn it.

Oh, stop it, Hogi.

Anyway...

This week has been pretty uneventful. In other words, Boring. Well, except for the first 2 weekdays.

Fellow bored friend Michelle messaged me during the afternoon of Monday, saying she wants to go out. We ended up meeting with Carmi and Jonna in Glorietta. Girl talk over dinner at Food Choices, then after Jonna had bid goodbye, the rest of us went to watch Little Man. Hahaha, hilarious movie. Every flick with the Wayans brothers is always funny.

Boredom was still at it the following day, that I was dying to watch another movie. But I couldn't find anyone who'd go with me, so I was ready to watch chick flick The Devil Wears Prada alone. Thank goodness there was Je, ahahahaha. I can't believe he actually let me make him watch a chick flick.

I spent 2 days in the office taking out all the costumes from the closets and photographing them one by one for filing. During the 2nd day, I found myself getting reacquainted with all those Dreamgirls costumes, hahaha. My oh my, I've forgotten how many there were just for that one production. For the Dreamgirls themselves, there were clothes made by threes (heck, the finale costume was even had 4). And those gowns by Rajo Laurel, oh my. I've forgotten that a bunch of them were pretty heavy because it was loaded with beads and sequins. I even remembered Fluffy, that huge white fur coat that Luz and I lugged around for "One Night Only". Carrying it was like carrying my dog Terie, hahahaha!

Yesterday after work, I met up with Jem, Clarz, Frances and Jolleen at Glorietta for dinner. Man, it's been over a year since I last saw Jem, Clarz and Fran, back when we went to the German silent film fest. And Jolleen, oh my. The last time I saw her was 4 years ago, I think, when I went to visit them in UST.

Anyway, we had dinner at Oody's, just talking. It was so surreal being with them again. I found out that Clarz is taking classes at First Academy for Maya, Jem is having guy trouble, Fran's company will be opening a place in Makati, and Jolleen just came from a month-long trip in France for a family reunion. Man, I missed these girls, but sometimes I get that feeling that I can't relate to them when it comes to what they do. I got out of the interior design field years ago, and they're all still doing it now. Bim was already involved in theater then, but she never let go of interior design. Then while Clarz and I were sitting next to each other inside Greenbelt 3...

Clarz: I'm really bad at remembering faces. And to think I'm an artist. I'm supposed to remember things like that.
Me: Hahaha, it's alright. Look at me, I'm in theater, but I have a really lousy memory all in all.

Hahahaha... But it's all good. It was great to end the week with a reunion with them. They're still that same bunch I knew back when we were all together in our first year of college. These ladies were the ones that kept me sane during my stay there, even though I was already going crazy with my life. I love you guys. Maybe someday the entire gang would get together again.

Last Tuesday, Hendri dropped by the office...

"What have you been doing lately? ...Aside from Atlantis? ...You're not acting?"

When he said that, I felt disappointed in myself. Should I pursue it next year?

====================

It's not bad to be spontaneous. But drives me crazy when you're spontaneous almost all the time. It's like I always have to keep guessing.

====================

Back in February of this year, Nicco and I had a conversation over the phone about our singledom. We even sort of promised ourselves that we have to go out more to keep from being lonely.

Then I remembered another phone conversation that same month, this time with Nikki. She had asked if I did have any plans of accepting any guy right now. (Hmmm... I do remember that Drei had also asked me that once before.) I had said that I'm not going for the next random guy who tries, but I'll entertain a guy who would attempt to make an effort.

Ahehehe... Nope, I'm still single right now, if that's what you're thinking. But things did change. Hahahaha...

First of all...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TEENA!
I miss you girl!

Anyway...

Last week, when I was at Starbucks Harbour Square with Mimay, we managed to nab complimentary tickets to last Sunday's matinee of Godot, Wer Is U? Thank you, Cris! We go to watch it then with Jerald. Hahaha, Mimay was right when she said that it was better if we saw it for the first time then. It was funnier, but because we had already seen it during its first run, we kept anticipating all these lines and stuff. Due to the smaller venue and Sir Herbie's direction, some stuff had changed. But I was still amazed at that darn set, from the sandy railway to the run-down bahay kubo.

"Beyst in da paking weyst!"
"Mas blind pa ako sa love."

We were seated at the 2nd row, so every time one of the cast members run toward us and sometimes even struggle, whoooosh, the sand comes flying. Hahaha, Mimay even got a bit stuck in her shoe, hehe.

After the show, Mimay, Jerald, Ate Naomi and I went to eat at Duke of York at Robinson's Place and got Tin to catch up with us. Yum, pizza and pasta. But by the time we were done eating, all the carbo had made us a little sluggish. We ended up at the videoke place upstairs and hung out there until the place closed (which was only until 9pm, anyway), then we all headed home.

====================

You're becoming the person I once told you about. You already know how you are in situations like these, but it seems that you don't even exert any effort to take others into consideration. And you say you've already learned a thing or two that has changed you. I still don't see an improvement, and frankly, with those so-called changes, you've become so different that I feel that I don't know you anymore.

OK, that's enough. I just let out some steam. My apologies. I didn't mean to be so mean.
